Who We Are

Foundation for the Promotion of Earth Sciences, is an off shoot of its parent body, Mecon Geology and Engineering Services Ltd., Jos. Dr. Matthew Offodile is also the founding Chairman andManaging Director/Consultant of Mecon,since its inception in 1977, Over the years, the Company specialised in numerous activities in Mineral, Geotechnical and Ground Water exploration and development projects. In anticipation of his retirement from active practice, the Foundation was setup to provide a forum for the study, analysis and development of specialised areas of study in the Earth Sciences.

What We Do

The main objective of the Foundation is to provide a Center for Earth Sciences Research and Development.

  • A Center

    To provide a Center for the Study of Operative Socio-Economic and Environmental factors relating to exploration and exploitation of Earth's Resources

  • Research

    Designing projects geared towards research and management of Earth's resources

  • Workshops

    Provide facilities at the Center for conferences, workshops, seminars, and other socio-cultural activities

  • Women In Earth Sciences

    Provide necessary advancement in the role of women organisation and the role of women and best practices in the extraction industry

  • Humanitarian Service

    Undertake humanitarian services to the needy and less privileged in the society
